Perodua’s production and sales YTD performance surpassed the 250,000-unit mark

Perodua production, monthly and year-to-date sales performances reached new highs in November as the national compact car company shifts into higher gear to meet demand.

In terms of sales, Perodua sold 250,795 units between January and November this year, which has surpassed its full year target of 247,800 units announced earlier in the year and the highest sales achievement for the company.

This sales production achievement so far this year numbered at 258,960 units which is the highest monthly production ever since inception at 29,149 units.

“This achievement is meaningful on many levels; the first shows our ability to further maximise current resources, both within Perodua and its supplier ecosystem.

“The second is that through this achievement, we now realise that we can further increase output –both in sales and production without investing in a new plant or acquiring more land for our manufacturing operations,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said.

On a year-on-year comparison, Perodua sales rose by 50.0% to 250,795 from 167,250 units sold in the same period last year. The jump in sales comparatively to the same period last year was due to the Covid-19 lock down initiated by the government between June and mid-August in 2021.

Monthly sales also recorded a new record of 28,592 units in November 2022, which is an increase of 40.9% when compared with 20,299 units sold in November 2021, and a 10.6% increase when compared with 25,849 units sold in October this year.

The top 3 Perodua models sold in November are Bezza with 8,089 units, followed by the Myvi with 6,624 units and the Axia with 5,812 units.

“We are looking to continue the sales and manufacturing momentum to ensure that all our valued customers will receive their Perodua vehicles quicker as well as to ensure all those booked their vehicle within the sales tax exempted timeframe, will get their cars before 31 March 2023,” Dato’ Sri Zainal said.

On setting a new target for the year, Dato’ Sri Zainal said that the national compact car company will instead announce the full-year actual numbers in January.
